Anal Fissure
An anal fissure is a small cut or tear in the lining of the anus. The tear causes severe pain and some bright red bleeding during and after bowel movements. Some inflammatory bowel diseases such as constipation, diarrhea, over-strain, Crohn's disease are the most common causes. Symptoms are pain, bleeding, and itching. In most cases, the tear heals on its own within four to six weeks. In cases where the fissure persists beyond eight weeks, it’s considered chronic.
Medical treatment: Stool softeners, nitroglycerin ointment, topical pain relievers
Botox injection: Botox injections into the anal sphincter will prevent spasms in your anus by temporarily paralyzing the muscle. This allows the anal fissure to heal while preventing new fissures from forming.
Surgical treatment
Anal dilation: It is the process of enlarging the breech by finger.
Lateral internal sphincterotomy: Surgically, the internal sphincter muscle is cut and the intra-anal pressure is reduced.
