Gastrıc Balloon

Gastric balloon is a silicone balloon inflated with 400-700 cc saline water after inserted into the stomach. This is a temporary weight loss method applied endoscopically for the people who can not lose weight with diet and exercise or do not want to be operated and also for the patients with a high surgical risk. Gastric balloon must be removed after a period ranging from 6 months and 1 year. This method is not applicable at the gastric ulcer, large stomach hernia and pregnancy situations. Nausea, pain, ulcers, stomach bleeding, gastric perforation, intestinal obstruction are rarely seen complications.

It is a Russian-made balloon that can stay in the stomach for 6 months. With the endoscopic method, it is placed orally under anesthesia and removed in the same way. The balloon is one of the most widely used brand in Turkey.

The Spatz adjustable balloon system (Spatz Medical, Great Neck, NY) is the only system in which the volume of the balloon can be adjusted. It can be lowered again to reduce balloon-related complaints, or inflated again to increase weight loss efficiency. Approved for 12 months of use.

Orbera®

The Orbera stomach balloon (Apollo Endosurgery, Austin, TX) was approved by the FDA for clinical use in America in 2015. It has been used in Europe since 1991. She can stay in the stomach for 12 months.

Elipse®

The Elipse gastric balloon (Allurion Technologies, Wellesley, MA) is unique in that it does not require endoscopy and anesthesia. It is dissolved 4-5 months after ingestion and excreted from the digestive system along with feces.
